darkfiction@rogers.comMy name is Jason White (AKA Joseph Plaxton). I plan to use LJ to document my life and daily word count. I do this mainly for myself, but I invite others to sit down and read my experiences as well—even if they are boring.
A few people have asked why I choose to write under a different name. There are a few reasons, and the short of it is this: Jason White is very boring, while Joseph Plaxton is more exciting. The name Joseph Plaxton is also very close to me, as it is part of my own name and heritage. Joseph is one of my two middle names, while Plaxton is my mother's maiden name. Until I was 11 years old, I lived in a house and was surrounded by the Plaxtons. My father was never around, and so my real last name, ‘White’, never really meant anything to me anyway. I feel that I'm more 'Plaxton' than 'White' in many ways, and rather than go through all the legal crap in legally changing my name, why not just use it as my writing name?
Since I only have a very limited amount of my work published, I'm not sure why I've decided to do this blog. Actually, that's a lie. I do know why. I do it because I like keeping records of my life, day to day, and, funny as it may sound, writing long hand hurts. Makes my hand cramp up after a while. I'm more accustomed to typing, and so writing a blog, most of the entries open to the public, some private, seemed the answer. I like LJ and its design. I like that it's a blogging community where people can share ideas and experiences.
One day, I'd like to organize a writing group, but not yet sure how to go about it. If anyone reading this has any ideas, please feel free to post a comment to one of my entries and let me know.
Also, if you are interested in making me your friend, hold no worries. I will even friend you back if I like what I see in your own blog entries. And if you just want to know more about me for any reason, then feel free to read through some of my own blogs. Thanks.
